Saint Patrick's Breastplate

Christ be with me, Christ within me,
Christ behind me, Christ before me,
Christ beside me, Christ to win me,
Christ to comfort me and restore me,
Christ beneath me, Christ above me,
Christ in quiet, Christ in danger,
Christ in hearts of all that love me,
Christ in mouth of friend and stranger.

-St. Patrick

I love this prayer. Over the summer I memorized the long version of it (see http://www.irishcultureandcustoms.com/Poetry/StPatrick.html) and have made it part of my morning Office ever since. A couple of years ago, when I was leading music at my church, I found a tune that fit the metrical version and used it as a sequence (gospel) hymn for several weeks--the congregation really liked it.

Oops, that link isn't showing up all the way. The end is "StPatrick.html".
